Great World of Sound
I was a little weary about watching The Great World of Sound. I bought this movie with "My Kid Could Paint That" for $20, square deal at Blockbuster. Documentaries are easy buys but the marketing for this movie seemed to portray an artsy suburban meets the 'hood hustling bomb but I did noticed it had won a few awards so I said what the hell. I have since watched this movie 3 times. Before I tell you how good this movie is I must say the ending was confusing. Think "Broken Flowers" maybe 5 more minutes of reel so I can understand what exactly happen....
The Great World Of Sound basically starts when Martin(Pat Healy) takes an ad in the newspaper to become a record producer. Martin gets partnered with larger-than-life Clarence(Kene Holliday) to survey the streets trying to discover unsigned talent. I can't really say much more without spoiling the whole movie. Its a comedy but not laugh out loud kinda sly shy funny. The unlikely duo chemistry make this movie a worth watch...
(Side Note: The demo auditions were real and the bands/artists were unaware they were actually filming for a movie).
