FOREIGN EXCHANGE

Man I'm hella sick..

I can't say why yet but I will be rocking heavy Wood Wood this next year, possibly before the stores. I received this invite for the coming Copenhagen Fashion Week.

I heard Copenhagen Fashion Week is where its at. Looks like Wood Wood rolls like the '92 Bulls; Henry Vibskov, Mykita eyewear, Rike Feurstein accessories, and Stine Goya. NICE!!

Next season, I'm definitely making sure to attend Stockholm and Copenhagen's Fashion Week. I really admired their style of dress and design.
I saw Wood Wood newest collection "The Ninth" its pretty pretty good.

I will try to see what I can show.

Why do I like Wood Wood so much?I get this question a lot on J.D.S.
Easy answer... First thing and most importantly when looking for your brands is their line of creativity. It's one thing to borrow but I can't support copying. First let me explain "To Borrow". Borrow is a stitch style, or type of pocket, even a zipper style but a whole silhouette, color and all. Come on now. Copying doesn't help the industry, consumers, or the brands. If your not original at some degree, can you even be considered legit. Those Dr. Jay stores are one thing, thats there market to copy so that lower income families can be able to buy the downgraded version of the most current trends but everything else its blatant bullshit, lack of creativity, and/or flat out laziness. I hope more consumers wise up to this horrible trend that is ever so popular in North America. It's like paying original price for a replica "White Canoe" by Peter Doig. That's a $11,299,900 difference for a copy.

Secondly, I always say that one's style SHOULD come from life experience, influence, family, and location(no order). The most important factor though is fit. There is nothing like finding a nice creative yet functional garment and the fit is perfect. I feel like Wood Wood creates collections like this season in and season out.

These 2 attributes go hand and hand. You cannot copy something and get the fit exactly right. Fashion takes knowledge and experience. I think of the feeling when finding a great fitting garment at a thrift store. You can't fake that. No labels just quality and design. I feel like if I didn't see the hang tag, I still would purchase Wood Wood and to be honest, how many brands are like that now. High End, low end, Street-wear, you name it..

So as long as they stay true and continue to do that, I will support.

Plus, I love the name. Supposedly it comes from their old business of making greeting cards. They would use weird word references and one of the most popular phrases was "WOOD WOOD". The rest is history!!!

FINALLY!!!

"I KNOW RIGHT"

Okay so today I saw this(below):

I thought it was about time to post this.

WELL THIS:

WOOD WOOD show was so good. Disregard my feeling about WOOD WOOD. There in my top 5 brands so I might not be the best judge. I made notes though so look for yourself.
WOOD WOOD reminds me a lot of 3.1 Phillip Lim, well there balance of high end with low end. As many brands are running into problems in their specific sections, brands like 3.1, WOOD WOOD, and even my former and new lover BAND OF OUTSIDERS(LOVES THEM!!!) have exploited the markets to form real LIFESTYLES brand. Producing all types of pieces to cater to your ever need.

I love WOOD WOOD use of indigo and gold, very tasteful. As their color palette each season will grab a few colors outside to spice up the collection.
Known for the clever cut&sew tailoring their graphic program is quite alright. Most brands usually have either one or the other but I see improvement. WOOD WOOD seems to be focusing on the complete package as far as merchandising.
Another thing about WOOD WOOD is there accessories, FLAT-OUT ON POINT!! I'm definitely a bag-man so it's imperative that brands I like have a well thought out accessory offering. There belts and hats have been getting many applauds for Spring.

CAN'T WAIT FOR SPRING 2009!!!

FAVORITES.. .

So I decided to get a online photo album...
Excited!! Well not really.
I don't really take a lot of pictures like I used too.
The main reason I'm getting a online album is because I feel that everybody should see the Wood Wood fashion show.
It was GLORIOUS...

If you didn't go, quote me, "hands down Wood Wood had the best show!!"
I will be uploading them tonight so come check tomorrow.

Plus, I was talking to Malin from Wood Wood and she didn't get any pictures taken...
THAT SUCKS!!

Code name: Recession

I'm not sure if you attended but I Heart had a glorious sale this passed weekend. Clothing was drastically reduced(60%-85%) and not just for the ladies. I Heart had Wood Wood, Perks & Mini, and Tonite to name a few on sale for men.
Ladies already know, I heart stocks some of the best brands in woman fashion featuring brands Tsumori Chisato, Phillip Lim 3.1, Karen Walker, Rachel Comey, and United Bamboo to name a few.

I came up on a great t-shirt cardigan from Wood Wood. I love Wood Wood. Shouts to Mortor, Malin, and the whole Wood Wood camp. I have some great notes on Wood Wood coming soon.

I also came up on MEDICOM FABRICK couch cushion designed by Will Sweeney. I recently picked up a Medicom account for BoundlessNY, so look forward to some goodies near and soon.

I'm really into bags right now; briefcase, bagpacks, totes, basically any type traveling storage. I have always carried some sort of bag and figure I always will. I have had my eye on this MEDICOM FABRICK duffle for sometime so I had to purchase. I'm not sure to what extent this bag will be in play but it I visually like it.

When it was all said and done, I spent about $153 at I heart for all 3 items. Saving a total of $332.
Much appreciation to Jill and the rest of I Heart's staff. Great Store!!!

Speaking of bags, I am currently smitten with a Perks & Mini canvas tote bag. At first, I couldn't really see myself carrying it but its just so perfect. The best size for grocery shopping or shopping in general. I really like PAM's space face graphic too.

This Perks & mini tote is like my new best friend. BEST TRADE SHOW BAG!!! Also a clutch inside "stash" pocket for valuables that are not best slung around.
I purchased the Perks & Mini tote bag from BoundlessNY, $65.

Jealousy

Trade show season has arrived. All over the world trade shows like Magic, Project, Bread & Butter, Agenda, ASR, and so many more will be beginning soon.
If your familiar with the trade show scene you may have attended Capsule, a New York based trade show. Carrying some of the best progressive contemporary place setters in the fashion market, I have seen Kstubi/Tsubi, Acne, Wood Wood, Clae, and a hand full of others in their NYC show.
Recently I received a email that Capsule will be taking their show on the road, well over the seas. Capsule in accordance with BrandPimps will be having a trade show in "Grande Paris"
I have spoke to one store and buyer that are so lucky/privileged to attend Capsule show in Paris. Las Vegas & San Diego are not bad but Paris, come on that's where I need to be.
The show begins June 25-28 2008 in Paris' historic Marais District, Rue de la Perle, from 10pm -7pm each day.
Peep this: music courtesy of April 77 records & food prepared daily by a private chef (compare that to plastic box salads & $5 dollar lunch specials).

Another reason I'm jealousy is the brand list: April 77 * Carlos Campos * Creative Recreation * Cutler and Gross * Double Identity * Endovanera * Made by Eugene * Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair * Fred Perry Special Product * Garb Store * Haversack * Harmon * Hope * Hyden Yoo * Julian Red * Lewis Leathers * Nom de Guerre * Oak * Our Legacy * Penfield * Public School * Rachel Comey Shoes * Real Real Genuine * S2VS * Silas * Simon Miller Jeans * Stansfield * Won Hundred * Wood Wood * YMC * Yoko Devereaux.
I love Silas & Nom de Guerre, Oak clothing line pretty good as is Wood Wood**

I WANT TO GO!!!
