TURNING PAGES

Jean Dubuffet-DRAWINGS 1968.

One of the most famous/favorite French painters and sculptors of the 20th century.

Virgina Allen explained Jean Dubuffet style the best, "Undaunted by the vagaries of aesthetic trends"

I'm currently studying Dubuffet. Such a study involves patience and a well train mind. Not saying my mind is "well trained" but to understand why Dubeffet (like Picasso or Basquiat) with a fantastic hand would create such pieces.

Influenced by Hans Prinzhorn's book Artistry of the Mentally Ill, Dubuffet coined the term Art Brut (outsider art) for art produced by non-professionals working outside aesthetic norms, such as art by mental patients, prisoners, and children.

One of my favorite Jean Dubuffet quotes, "The idea that there are beautiful objects and ugly objects, people endowed with beauty and others who can't claim it, has surely no other foundation than convention-old poppycock-and I declare that convention unhealthy... I would like people to look at my work as an enterprise for rehabilitation of scorned values"

Life is quite mysterious.. .

I'm particularly excited about this painted concrete and epoxy resin playground. Erected in 1974 by Jardin d' Email and Jean Dubuffet in the Netherlands. Can't wait to see this playground.
I heard it's a hour outside Amsterdam which is 2 hour flight from Stockholm ..
HMMM....
