WATCH YOUR BACK!!!

If your like me and frequented the mid-west region of North America then you may know a few things about Burlington Coat Factory. I swear there is about 600 Burlington Coat Factory in Ohio alone.
Burlington Coat Factory has been synonymous for selling designer jackets, coats, and some clothing (towards the latter years) at extremely marked down prices. Burlington Website states,
At Burlington Coat Factory, you’ll find a large assortment of current, high-quality, designer and name-brand merchandise at up to 60% less than other department stores. Choose from a large selection of coats, clothing, and shoes for the entire family. And don’t forget our great assortment of linens and home décor, PLUS everything you need for baby, from baby bottles to cribs! Burlington Coat Factory -- a convenient one-stop shopping experience with the labels you love, at prices you’ll love even more!
Since the New Jersey based company Burlington Coat Factory's 1924 start as a wholesale company of ladies coats and junior suits, Burlington Coat Factory has filled a niche that few companies could compete with, in-season marked down prices. Even the most fashion forward customer at one time purchased a jacket from Burlington Coat Factory. Burlington Coat Factory success within the market lead them to expand outside of the jacket and coat market to linens, men's and women's wear, and even baby goods. Personally never shopped Burlington Coat Factory much but one year I bought 2 jackets and they lasted pretty long. I still have the Notre Dame Starter jacket with the front zip pouch I bought there from back in the days.
A Connecticut customer has exposed Burlington Coat Factory for passing off low-priced Wal-Mart coats as premium Perry Ellis and Joseph Abboud garments. In Connecticut alone, all but one of the Burlington Coat Factory locations were passing off the faux coats, originally made by George and Amalfi, a private Macy's brand.

It's hard to believe Burlington Coat Factory thought they could get away with it. A full-price Perry Ellis version jacket would retail for about $200. Burlington Coat Factory was selling the fake labeled coats for less than $70. Seems a like a good deal, right?Except the original Wal-Mart coat, before that pasted label, cost about $30. All it took was a customer noticing that his label appeared to be pasted on. With a simple tug of the label, the whole scam unraveled: Cheaper coats were being passed off as name-brand high fashion. This news is very disheartening to hear especially at such a time in our economy. Times are tough, and the temptation to pass off schwag is stronger than ever for unscrupulous vendors. We should all be looking more deeply behind the true meaning of the labels on our back.

Nonetheless, Burlington Coat Factory has backed away from responsibility for this blunder, blaming instead the Levy Group, a distributor for Burlington Coat Factory. The Levy Group, which has legitimate rights to Perry Ellis and Joseph Abboud labels has already tried to distance itself from the dirty play by blaming an Burlington Coat Factory employees, claiming the employees were acting on their own accord.

If you think you may have purchased one of these faulty coats, Burlington Coat factory is offering store credit or a refund plus a 20% off coupon until March 31st.

LOCAL NEWS

Okay!!! One of my local digs got national coverage recently. The thrift store shown above on this AOL ad is my 23rd Street Salvation Army in Manhattan, across the street from SVA. One of the daily stores I rummage on my thrift route. Shouts to Patty and Big Sam for always looking out and congrats on the stellar press.

YOUR EARS WILL THANK YOU!!

I'm sick!!!
Last time I was as sick, I was watching the Ovation channel and they were airing some rooftop band perform. I remember I was sleeping on the couch with my back turned to the television. They played maybe three or so songs and I was hooked. I wasn't even looking at the TV but was singing along. I turned around to the TV to see a gentlemen barely clothed with a octopus on his chest singing in a most odd way. Not like his voice which is different but his swagger. I don't like that word "swagger" but King Khan is dripping swag, homie got flavor. The songs were pretty dope too. I wrote down their information so I could inquiry about where to find there album but never could find the note I wrote the info on. I write notes on everything. I'm a big notes fan: stickies, mail, matches, trash, you name it.

Anyway for the past months, I have been trying to find this band. I would google search "man with octopus tattoo on chest" but believe it or not that search will get you on some rather strange websites. Well thanks to one of my favorite sites, Black Moses, I have found King Kahn and The Shrines(dope album cover).
The album sick definitely worth checking out!!!

REVIEW FROM ALLMUSIC.COM
Vice Records, the musical offshoot of the hilariously snarky Vice Magazine, compiles the best tracks from King Khan & the Shrines' career, piling together 16 of the boys' greasiest platters for The Supreme Genius of King Khan & the Shrines. Vice could be considered the perfect holding cell for the smirking Khan (often pictured in less than pants), whose image relies on tongue-in-cheek sexiness and whose lyrics revel in perverse humor. But beneath all the boisterous tomfoolery lies a surprisingly gifted songwriter well versed in Nuggets-era garage rock, Eric Burdon's gritty stylings, and Sly & the Family Stone's hot buttered soul. Endowed with a massive 12-piece band including a horn section, King Khan & the Shrines' production pays perfect tribute to the era it's reproducing, complete with plate reverb and compression that flattens the organ, Stax-influenced horns, an elastic rhythm section, and analog murk. Many bands imitate the '60s sound (the Black Lips, the Detroit Cobras, and the Brian Jonestown Massacre to name a few), but rarely do they hit the mark with such accuracy. More importantly, the melodies are so warm and memorable that they easily could be confused for hit singles of the baby boomer generation -- if not for some of the racier lyrics. From the raw fuzzy drive of "Torture," "I Wanna Be a Girl," and "No Regrets," all powered by Khan's squeaky yowl, to the softer psych, doo wop, and soul ballads "Fool Like Me," "Crackin' Up," and "Welfare Bread," the tight musicianship and adherence to just what made the vintage sound golden make for a classic batch of songs, even if the material actually isn't all that old. It's enough to mistake Khan for a serious performer, even if he once went by the name of Blacksnake in a band named the Spaceshits. Supreme genius may be laying it on a bit thick, but the songs are indeed as good as the album cover suggests.--allmusic.com

THIS DAY IN HISTORY

Wilt Chamberlain was a gargantuan force in the NBA (and off the court too, Ask about him). From his early Pennsylvania upbringing to his stint with the Harlem Globetrotters, his 7 ft 1 in 275 pounds presence was always one that captured the show. Wilt the Stilt, The Big Dipper, Chairman of the Boards, or just 10,000 was a dominant offensive force, unstoppable in the paint, yet as fine all-around of an athlete as players half-foot shorter in stature. Wilt had a uncanny pride in developing his all-around skills to compete with all the emerging players in the NBA during '60's specifically Bill Russell and the great Boston Celtics.

Today was a very special day in 1962. A certain player was unstoppable that night in Hersheypark Arena in Hershey, Pennsylvania. That player was Wilt Chamberlain. On March 2, 1962, Wilt Chamberlain set the NBA single-game scoring record by dropping a cool 100 points for the Philadelphia Warriors in a 169-147 victory over the New York Knicks (of course the Knicks). Combined the teams scored 316 points setting what was then a record for the most combined points in a game by both teams. In process, Wilt obliterate his previous NBA scoring record of 78 points set less than three months earlier, Chamberlain shot 36-for-63 from the field and 28-for-32 from the foul line while grabbing 25 rebounds and setting NBA records for most field goals attempted (63) and made (36), free throws made (28) and most points in a quarter (31) and a half (59).

Radio call of the final three minutes of Wilt Chamberlain's historic game..

Guy Rodgers, the point guard for the Philadelphia Warriors who recorded a career high 20 assists later said, "It was the easiest game ever for me to get assists, all I had to do was pass it to Wilt."

REALLY?!?

(VIA MRketplace Magazine By: Harry Sheff** I did not make this up)
Florida Judge Says "Saggy Trouser Law Unconstitutional"; 9/17/2008

A judge in Riviera Beach, Florida has ruled a local law banning sagging trousers is unconstitutional after 17-year-old Julius Hart spent a night in jail for the offense. Hart was arrested for showing approximately four inches of his underwear. The city’s "saggy pants law" was passed by a 72 percent margin in March. Violation carries a $150 fine or community service.
“Your Honor, we now have the fashion police,” said public defender Carol Bickerstaff, quoted in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “Our office really does intend to appeal this ordinance, which we believe is totally unconstitutional.”
Palm Beach Circuit Judge Paul Moyle said in court, “We're not talking about exposure of buttocks. No! We're talking about someone who has on pants whose underwear are apparently visible to a police officer who then makes an arrest and the basis is he's then held overnight, no bond. No bond!”
Hart was held overnight because his sagging pants violated his probation for a marijuana possession charge.
In a story in the Palm Beach Post, Riviera Beach Mayor Thomas Masters was unrepentant. “It's still a law,” he told the Post. “It has not been thrown out or invalidated, and all valid laws will be enforced.”
Mayor Masters continued, “I think the people have a right to set a standard of what's decent and indecent exposure in their city. If you didn't set a standard, then would it be constitutional for people to walk around in their underwear?”

KAWAII.. .

Help!!

I know I'm the '"phone guy". Throughout my life I have been labeled by several key figures that I was so. My relationships with phones has been if I'm; not losing it(5 blackberrys, 2 sidekicks), boycotting them, or simply just keeping them constantly on silent. We just don't match up right.
Recently, I lost my "W" button on my blackberry 8800. I just got this 8800 from T-mobile 3 months ago. If you see my button please send it home. We miss you.
I'm tired of people thinking I'm drunk-texting them.

I got $5 on it...

Did you see the ending of Game 4: San Antonio Spurs vs Los Angeles Lakers?
Thoughts... Yea it was a foul. DEFINITELY!!! I think Brent Barry should have got the call but I see why they didn't call it.

Honestly after Kobe Bryant drove down court and blew that lay-up. I couldn't help but to wish the worst for the lakers. It didn't matter what happen before. Lakers could have shoot 40 for 40 from the field. I still would have wanted them to lose. I know, I just commented on "Kobe the All-American hero" but the "hooper" in me screamed out "Colorado".
Come on Kobe, 28 seconds on the clock and you drive down on a 2 on 4 fast break and blow a lay-up, in the playoffs. You deserve to lose. I was hoping the Spurs would pull game 4 out. I mean, don't get me wrong... I'm rooting for that throwback rivalry; The championship saga, Boston Celtics vs L.A. Lakers, Russell vs Chamberlain, Riley vs Red, Bird vs Magic, and all the media spectacule it will be.

Man your lucky Kobe!!!

Maybe the Refs had some chips on the curve.
