Please join me this Saturday, March 21st, 2009 for a very special night at APT
as I'm joined on the wheels of steel by my esteemed colleague from Tokyo, the
legendary DJ MURO.

Producer/remixer Muro sealed his exalted selector status in the mid-90s when his
celebrated series of hip-hop sample-source mix-tapes earned him the title, "King
of Diggin'". In the years since he's more than lived up to the hype, mastering
seemingly every genre of funky groovology imaginable via superb mixes like "I
(Heart) 45s," "Super Reggae Breaks," "Nippon Breaks," his collab with Dmitri
From Paris "Super Disco Friends."

Well, now Muro and myself have joined forces for "Run For Cover II: Mind Blowing
Renditions Redux" – a brand spankin' new mix composed entirely of groovy cover
versions of classic soul, funk, rock, reggae, Latin, and disco tunes. And to
commemorate the US release of the CD that's what we'll be playing on Saturday:
ALL COVER VERSIONS, ALL NIGHT!

As a bonus my mellow, my man – and fellow covers enthusiast – DJ O-DUB of
soul-sides.com will also be in the mix to join in the re-work revelry. If you're
familiar with O-Dub's excellent covers mix series, "Deep Covers," then you
already know how special this night will be.

The pride of Bushwick, brothers Evil Dee and Mr. Walt of Da Beatminerz have been crafting hip-hop classics since the early 90s when their seminal productions for Black Moon, Smif-N-Wessun and the rest of the Bootcamp Click all but defined NYC's return of the boom-bap. This Saturday, July 12th, as NYC's finest deep funk & vintage soul soiree returns to APT. This month Bumpshop welcomes back very special guest DJ Soulpusher (a/k/a Franc O of the legendary Vampyros Lesbos parties) who has just relocated back to the Big Apple after several years living and digging for wax overseas in Guinea. Frank's incredible African digging adventures are chronicled on his terrific blog but a new documentary, Take Me Away Fast, takes the story-telling to a whole new level.

NYC's finest vintage funk & soul soiree returns to APT this Saturday, May 3rd w/ special guest from the Chi by-way-of New Mexico, Mr. Tony Janda.
Tony is one of the finest if most under-the-radar vintage soul selectors on the planet, with residencies at famed Chi-City watering hole Danny's Tavern, and a tour as host of the "R&B Flashback" radio show on Northwestern University's WNUR to his credit. For his much anticipated return to the Shop expect many jewels from his extensive collection of super dynamite soul. For a taste check his sound with his new mix, Results Not Typical. (via Mao mail)
