Mid-Week DVD Pick

Sorry, I have been sick and busy to say the least. I truly owe an apology!!!
This week DVD pick was soo easy, actually not really. I can't stop watching Lakai's Fully Flared DVD. Marc Johnson's part is one the greatest skate parts I have EVERY seen. He almost deserves a Oscar well a nomination would be nice. Anyway, M.J. skate part features a great song, "Goodbye, Horses" by Q-Lazzarus. I can't get enough of this song, so I rented Silence of the Lambs. If your familiar with this film directed by Jonathan Demme, remember the infamous scene in which serial killer "Buffalo Bill" applies makeup and dances in front of a video camera with his penis tucked between his legs as to give the appearance of a vagina. Creepy but in a good way like they nailed that scene. It was supposed to make you feel uncomfortable. After I finished Silence of the Lamb, I went on this journey to find the source of this great song/scene and the definition makes it even better.

The meaning: In Eastern philosophy "horses" are symbolic/representative of the 5 senses - the things that keep us tied to the physical/material plane of existence. When you can transcend the limitations of these senses and achieve a higher level of consciousness, you are leaving the "horses" behind - "flying over them." The song is about someone who was so affected by (A loss? A breakup?) they decide to give up the things that keep them tied to this world by emotion.
